Over the past year, I was fortunate enough to be a part of the first all women’s wakeboarding and wakeskating video done in over 8 years; "The Chick Flick". This video was shot and edited by DPC Films out of Northern California.
Filming with them was a great experience; from the 40 degree early morning shoots in Lake Tahoe to the hot and muggy afternoons in Orlando. The chance to get to ride and spend time with several of the other female athletes in many locations was certainly a wonderful opportunity.
Many thanks to David Cervenka and Joe Umali for making this happen. Go to your local board shop today and get your copy of The Chick Flick and check out my section at steftor.com.

I met David a while back, and I've gotten familiar with his editing over the years. I was so excited when he told me that he wanted to make the first all girl wakeboard DVD! I couldn't have picked a better editor.
Getting to film for the video was awesome. We took an all girl trip out to Califronia and Nevada to do some riding and filming. Lake Tahoe has always been one of my favorite places to ride, so getting to go back there was absolutely epic. Getting to ride with the girls every day was a real treat too. It's suprising how different a boat full of girls is from a oat full of guys, lol, just way more fun!
I was really excited on my section. I got my own, so I was pretty stoked on that and getting a rap song too! I was suprised they didn't put a few of my tricks in there that I had stuck, but all in all I was really stoked on it. They're the best!

The chick flick is definatly inspiring. There's alot of up and coming talent in women's wakeboarding. When I first saw it back at home in the snow, I was kind of on a bummer about riding. After watching it, I was really fired up to get home and ride. It kind of gave me hope seeing all the girls different riding levels and tricks lists.
The small portion of filming I was involved in definatly wasn't easy though. I missed some awesome days they came out to my house to film due to school. I was mainly involved in the Tahoe shoot. I set up one of the days on Lake Tahoe with my boat and a friends boat. Although Lake Tahoe can never be counted on for pristine conditions, even at 6am. The few days we were in town were windy and cold and definatly didn't help the filming situation but we tried to make the best of it.
There was also alot of girls to be filming in the few short days. At one point we were on such a time crunch every girl had about 15 minutes to get up and do some of their best tricks for the camera. It was especially tough for me as an amatuer and my first big filming experience to just get up and do all of my best tricks in fifteen minutes on a boat I've never ridden behind in rough water followed by another boat with 4 cameras. But it was definatly a good experience, even if it was a little rough.
DPC did an awesome job comsidering their limited time and budget. The crash section is by far the best.
